Did you know that we are only born with two intrinsic fears? The fear of loud noises and the fear of falling are naturally built into us, but all other phobias are developed throughout our lives as a result of an adverse incident, or learned from caregivers or peers.

Some fears and phobias make sense in an evolutionary context. Being wary of snakes, spiders, and other insects makes perfect sense if you live in a country where these creatures might bite or sting you and cause you harm. Living in the UK however, it might be a little harder for us to understand why we become frozen with fear at the sight of a spider or see these other creatures on TV.

Most people have fears and phobias, situations and things that they just can’t tolerate. Sometimes though, fears and phobias can become severe and pervasive, activating the fight, flight, or freeze response and causing anxiety that affects the way we live our lives on a day to day basis. Hypnotherapy can be remarkably successful in treating fears and phobias including (but not limited to):

  • Dogs

  • Cats

  • Birds

  • Mice / Rats

  • Frogs / Toads

  • Driving

  • Flying

  • Heights

  • Open Water

  • Needles

  • Blood

  • Vomiting

  • Dentists

  • Hospitals

  • Crowds

  • Noises

  • Smells

  • Buttons

  • Beards

  • Dust

  • Germs

Whatever the stimuli, hypnotherapy can help. You’ll be in a safe, non-judgemental environment as you begin to gently face the issue that's concerning you, step-by-step. You will be guided into a deeply relaxed state where neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based techniques can be utilised to try and rid you of your fear or phobia for good. You will also be taught anchoring, breathing, and grounding techniques that will assist you to approach all situations or stimuli that used to trigger you with only confidence and an overwhelming sense of self-control.

This course of hypnotherapy can usually be completed over four to five sessions depending on your presenting issue. Sometimes, clients who have developed a fear or phobia cannot pinpoint it's cause and may require more in depth techniques such as regression to seek out a root cause. If this is the case, we will discuss this after the first few sessions as an option to enable you to get the results that you desire and deserve. As part of your comprehensive hypnotherapeutic program, you will be sent voice recordings of your individualised scripts so that you can listen to them at home. This allows you to re-enforce what you are learning in between sessions and provides ongoing support should you need it again in the future.
