Hypnotherapy for Relaxation and Sleep: Image

Everyday life can get tough and in today's busy society we often find it very hard to achieve a quiet state of mind where the brain can be emptied of negative, worrying, self-limiting thoughts. However, the state of hypnosis with it‘s associated state of deep physical and mental relaxation, makes it one of the most useful, non-pharmacological means that we can harness to attain a relaxed state and to sleep better.

We are all starting to realise how important it is to take time out of our stressful lives to just find some peace of mind and some time for ourselves. The exploration of the mind / body link within academic research is really gaining traction and the realisation that physical health and mental health go hand in hand is accepted as fact as engaging in yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and relaxation have been shown time and time again to benefit and stabilise our mental health. Hypnotherapy is some times likened to meditation with a purpose, a goal that is being sought. At it’s core, hypnotherapy uses relaxation as a means to guide you into a hypnotic, focused, and deeply restful state.

We all need sleep. We feel so much happier and invigorated when our body and mind allow us to be well rested. When we are not permitted by our body or our mind to sleep, we can experience many detrimental side effects including:

  • Tiredness

  • Irritability

  • Decreased tolerance to stress

  • Decreased ability to control emotions

  • Anxiety

  • Increased hunger

  • Increased dependence on alcohol or medications used for sleep

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Brain fog

Up to a third of people experience sleep issues at some point in their lives, often turning to alcohol or medications used to assist sleep to try and relieve their insomnia. Hypnotherapy can help in a much gentler and non-pharmacological way and can assist those experiencing:

  • Insomnia (not being able to fall asleep easily, or waking frequently through the night)

  • Waking and not being able to get back to sleep

  • The misuse of alcohol, sleeping tablets or other medication to try and sleep more effectively

  • Struggling to stay awake or feeling sleepy during the daytime.

There are various reasons why people may struggle to sleep effectively including:

  • Stress

  • Worries

  • Anxieties

  • Eating / drinking habits (including caffeine and alcohol)

  • Use of blue light emitting technology in the evenings / at night

  • Disruptive work schedules (shift workers)

  • Lack of exercise

  • Inability to relax

  • Less exposure to daylight

  • Medication

  • Some health conditions

The benefits of using hypnotherapy to improve your sleeping patterns are many, including:

  • Better concentration

  • The ability to deal with stress and other troubling emotions more effectively

  • Increased energy

  • Improvements in memory

  • Increased productivity

  • No 'hangovers' in the morning after using alcohol or medication to assist you to sleep

  • Normal appetite

If you find it difficult to let go, let hypnotherapy help you to stop overthinking and quieten your mind. You will be taught about sleep hygiene and exactly how to release stress, anxiety, worry, and other troubling emotions, allowing you to just drift into a peaceful state of sleep or relaxation. You’ll be guided into a natural, relaxing hypnotic state that will allow you a heightened focus and concentration on the changes that you wish to see in yourself and making it easier to help you regain control over your mental and physical health, and enhance your ability to fall asleep and to stay asleep.

This course of hypnotherapy can usually be completed over four sessions. You will also be sent voice recordings of your individualised scripts at various stages so that you can listen to them at home. This allows you to practice what you are learning between sessions and provides you with ongoing support should you need it in the future.
